A video showing off the upcoming Google Pixel 8 Pro smartphone has been leaked online. Unlike the design leaks we’ve seen in the past, this time we can see the actual use of one of the smartphone’s new features. Google removed the video from YouTube, but a copy of the video is still available on Twitter.
The video reveals the secret of the fifth sensor on the rear panel, located in the camera block. Apparently, this is not a macro module and not a scene depth sensor, but a thermometer. To measure body temperature, the user will need to follow the original sequence of actions. First, you need to bring the sensor close to the forehead, but do not touch it. Then you need to start the countdown by tapping on the smartphone screen. After that, you will need to smoothly move the thermometer to the temple. The end of the temperature measurement will be notified by a sound signal and vibration.
First leaked video of the Pixel 8 Pro showing off the phone and it’s new thermometer feature.

Based on the available information, the body temperature measurement function will be exclusive to the Google Pixel 8 Pro model. According to leaked renders, the standard version of the Pixel 8 is devoid of a fifth sensor.
The official presentation of the Pixel 8 series smartphones is expected in October this year.
